Finding Happiness in Christ (Series 2)Mostra
The joy of the little Cranberry island
Behold, I have created the blacksmith who blows the coals in the fire, who brings forth an instrument for his work; (Isaiah 54:16a)
Joy Sprague knew how to make her customers' days more beautiful. As a former female post office head, she had customers scrambling to have their photos hang on the post office wall. Every 25th customer who used express mail services would be photographed. The photo would then be displayed on the post office wall. Besides being photographed, they would also receive a plate of Joy's homemade cream cake!
That's not all Joy did to make Cranberry a friendly place. She also operated a postage business for mail orders which was so popular that her small post office ranked as a post office with the 4th highest sales in all 450 post offices in Maine. Why? Most of Joy's customers were summer visitors who always wanted to get the latest news about the island. For each order received, Joy would send them a photo of the Cranberry Island landscape and a handwritten note telling them what was going on the island.
One resident commented, “Joy creates ways to bring joy to others.” Joy had received acclaim from the Head of the USA Post Office. She was loved not only by locals but also by friends across America who loved to write to her.
Why don't you ask God to give you creative ideas that will bring joy to someone's life today?
Reflection: God gives everyone creative thinking power according to each person's capacity. We need to get out of our comfort zone to receive it. Let's give birth to creativity in simple things with the things around us because creativity will bring joy not only to ourselves but also to others.
The more you give, the more you will enjoy what you have.
