Our Kids – Our Responsibility

From the moment our precious babies are conceived, until we take our last earthly breath, we will be sowing into our children’s lives. They are a constant work in progress, just as we all are, and parents are charged with the monumental task of loving, nurturing, caring for, teaching, disciplining, supporting, and encouraging their precious children.

All those tasks come with tremendous responsibility. We want to get it right, for their sake, for our sake, and for God’s sake. He has blessed us with the gift of parenthood and expects us to do our best to follow his example and direction.

Do you take this seriously? Is your effort worthy? Intentions genuine?

This can be a bit of a reality check for some. Perhaps even irritating. They are ‘your’ kids after all and you may not want anyone suggesting how to raise them. But God isn’t just ‘anyone’ and his Word deserves heeding. And when you get right down to it, our children are really loaners from God. Shouldn’t we go above and beyond in caring for something (or someone) both incredibly important AND borrowed from God? Rhetorical indeed!

God is the best parent of all. Study his lead and emulate his actions. The bible is overflowing with the most effective childrearing advice you’ll find anywhere. Leave a legacy of Godly parenting and equip your kids to be the best they can be.

What will you declutter? Negative consequences for your children down the road, and guilt and regret from unmet expectations and lack of effort.
