Recovery Day 8
Isa. 40:29-31 “God energizes those who get tired, and gives fresh strength to dropouts... Those who wait upon God get fresh strength. They spread their wings and soar like eagles, they run and don't get tired, they walk and don't lag behind.” (MSG).
Jesus says, “COME to Me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. But when you come, you first have to wait. The thing about waiting is you cannot do it in a hurry. Waiting works best with patience. To sit with God, you actually have to sit with God. Matt. 6:6 "Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense His grace.” (MSG).
When you go to God and you are able to wait on Him and minister to Him, the focus shifts from you to God. And you will begin to see that beyond your problem, you are sensing God's power. Beyond your confusion, you sense God's comfort and control. And beyond your stress you sense God's arms around you. I urge you to learn the art of waiting by observing waiters in a classy restaurant. The first thing you will notice is that they actually wait on you. They may be out of sight but you are always in view. They are constantly watching your every move and waiting on you. As soon as you raise your head, they establish eye contact. You can tell from their posture that they are waiting on you and not the other way round.
The waiter knows it is not about him but all about you. And when you are pleased with the responsiveness of the waiter, you drop a tip based on your level of satisfaction. When you wait on God, God drops a tip and it is nothing like the change we give. He takes care of you. Your anxiety melts away, you think less about your problem, and suddenly it becomes all about Him. What your colleague or boss at the office said pales out in comparison to Jesus. All that remains in your heart is God's Word.
Thought: You cannot wait in a hurry! – How often do you wait on God?
Prayer [song] In Your presence that’s where I belong. In your presence Oh Lord my God. In Your Presence that’s where I am strong. Seeking Your face, touching Your grace in the cleft of the Rock, in Your Presence Oh God!
