JESUS, GOD, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

Okay, before we can go any further, we need to understand something important. You might be hearing about Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit, and wondering what the difference is.

This is something we call the Trinity. Trinity simply means one God, three persons. Jesus, God, and the Holy Spirit are all equally God, but they function a little differently.

God is the Father. He created the heavens and the earth, and we will be united with him in heaven for eternity.

Jesus is the Son of God. Jesus is God, in human form. God sent Jesus to earth, where he lived a perfect life, then died a sinner’s death, and three days later resurrected from the dead — making a way for us to have a relationship with God through believing in Jesus.

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of God. Jesus promised, before he left the earth, to send the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is now with us. When you say yes to Jesus, you have access to the Holy Spirit. The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as our “helper”, “comforter”, and “advocate”.

A relationship with God is a relationship with all of the Trinity. God is your father! Jesus is who saves you. And the Holy Spirit is with you to guide you and lead you as you go through each day!
