In Anticipation of the Glory That Is to Come

DAY 1 OF 4

In Anticipation of the Glory That is to Come

MAIN IDEAS

• Jesus sends seventy disciples ahead of Him, for the work of the Kingdom. They are prepared and receive the necessary instructions and authority in the spiritual world.
• On their return, the disciples were very happy about their success and their authority over evil spirits in the Name of Jesus.

• There is a greater reason for joy – the fact that their name is written in heaven.

• Jesus is also rejoicing at their success and the extension of the work for the Kingdom of God, through these regular people.

JESUS realized that he had a limited time frame to spend on this earth and that His body was physically limited, so He decided to extend His work, multiplying it through disciples, which He taught, commissioned, and sent before Him in the mission of the Kingdom. He also offered a practical example – first to the disciples and to us today – of how the world needed to be discipled. No matter how risky it is to send disciples with little experience to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, the risk is still smaller than not making disciples and not multiplying. JESUS sends simple people on mission, giving them the main instructions and above all, authority in the spiritual world. When they return, the seventy are fascinated with the way their authority worked and the way the demons recognized it. Their success gives them fulfillment and joy. JESUS also rejoices in their success and tells them that even more important than this authority they received is the fact that they are His followers and that their names are written in heaven. The disciples exercising their authority is an example for us all and an anticipation of the glory of the KINGDOM OF GOD, manifested right here, on earth, among JESUS’ followers. Advancing the KINGDOM OF GOD on earth will not be done through manmade methods and talents – such as theological schools, organization, and talent – but through exercising authority in the Name of JESUS by those who are saved and who received this authority. Keeping our spiritual authority through living a godly life through staying under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and exercising this authority will extend the KINGDOM on earth in our generation and will provide us with joy and spiritual fulfillment.
