God Sees You: Lessons From Leah a 5 - Day Plan by Kerry-Ann Lewisনমুনা
It’s In the Attitude
A few years ago, I suffered a mild heart attack. I was shocked. I wanted the doctors to do over the tests and tell me a different result. Of course, that did not happen. I was hospitalized, underwent further tests, and treated based on the results shown. During that brief hospital visit, I chose to thank God for the heart attack. As a teacher, I had been teaching my students to thank God in every situation according to 1 Thessalonians 5:18. I now had to put it into practice in a big way! In that season, my attitude was important. I could choose to be bitter, or I could choose to be thankful because, despite it, God had chosen to give me life.
Leah could have chosen to be bitter, and anyone would have understood. Yet, instead of bitterness, she chose to praise the Lord. God was what was important.
Her sister, Rachel, on the other hand, when she realized that she could not have children, envied her sister (Genesis 30:1). She turned angrily to Jacob, demanding that he give her children, which, of course, he could not. He reminded her that God was the One who had closed her womb.
In the midst of difficult circumstances, we see two very different responses. Which response do you think you would have displayed? It may be easy to criticize Rachel, but it is not always easy to respond positively in unfair situations. We want to lash out, demanding change from those who cannot realize the desired change. When our attitude, however, becomes one of surrender to the God who can make that change, I believe we will see different results. God still knows what is best, and He knows how to turn around even the most difficult of situations. So, the next time you feel your hands tied, remember that God knew what would happen before it did, and He has the answer already worked out. Just trust Him!
Prayer
God, forgive me for the times I have responded with a wrong attitude to negative situations. Help me to trust that You have already worked it out and that You have my best interest at heart. In Jesus name, I pray. Amen.
About this Plan
There are times when we may feel invisible, overlooked, rejected. Yet even though we are invisible to others, we are very much seen and loved by our heavenly Father. This five-day devotional by Kerry-Ann Lewis is a reminder that God is not limited by your invisibility in the eyes of others. He sees, knows, and cares and has a beautiful plan and purpose mapped out just for you.
