Promises

DAY 3 OF 10

The Promise of Being Whole

What comes to mind when you think of healing? Perhaps a physical ailment or a struggle with sickness? Physical healing is the remarkable process in the body where our cells regenerate and repair themselves. This regeneration restores lost or damaged tissues, organs, or cells. Now, let's extend this idea to other dimensions of healing—emotional, mental, and spiritual. It’s about the revival of damaged emotions, the restoration of brain cells impacted by stress, anxiety, or depression, and the renewal of a spirit that feels broken by hurt and suffering.

Healing is more than just regeneration; it is being restored and renewed to complete wellness, health, and wholeness. In Mark 8:22-26 we encounter the blind man whose sight was restored by Jesus. Likewise, in Acts 3:1-9, Peter healed a man who had been crippled since birth, bringing not only regeneration to his bones but also renewal to his muscles and tendons—transforming every cell within him.

What about emotional, mental, and spiritual healing? In the region of the Gerasenes, a man tormented by demons found his mind restored when Jesus intervened (Mark 5:1-13). Likewise, the thief on the cross asked Jesus to remember him. In a powerful act of grace, he was given a new spirit, and his soul was restored (Luke 23:32-43).

God’s Word says that by the beating and crucifixion Jesus endured on our behalf, we have been healed (1 Peter 2:24). Think about it this way: Jesus was beaten with a whip (physical suffering), a crown of thorns was placed on His head (mental suffering), He was spit on, lied about, and humiliated on a cross (emotional suffering), and then He even felt abandoned by His Father in Matthew 27:46 (spiritual suffering).

Because of Jesus, we have the promise of being healed and whole. There are 144 verses about healing. These promises (verses) cover all the types of healing we would ever need.

Here are a few to meditate on:

Physical healing: Matthew 14:14 (NLT), “Jesus saw the huge crowd as He stepped from the boat, and He had compassion on them and healed their sick.”

Mental healing: Daniel 4:34 (NLT), “I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the One who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and His kingdom is eternal.”

Emotional healing: John 14:27 (NLT), “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Spiritual healing: Psalm 34:18 (NLT), “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”

Reflection: The Father not only heals, but He restores, replaces, and renews us to make us complete and whole. Do you trust Him? Believe Him? Then accept His healing for you over any kind of sickness you may have. Remember that Jesus took all of our sickness and disease and has replaced it with complete healing and wholeness.
