Living in Increase (Part 9) - Increase in Healthনমুনা
Don't Copy the World
Yesterday, we assessed where our health was spiritually. Whether you’re unhealthy or healthy in this area, there is always room to improve!
It is essential, however, to identify some things that may cause us to be spiritually unhealthy. Romans 12:2 warns us not to “copy the behaviors and customs of this world.” Without realizing it, it is sometimes easy to step in with the people and environments around us.
Your co-workers are having a conversation you shouldn’t be a part of, but you can’t help but listen. Your family is going to see a movie that you know you shouldn’t see, but you go anyway. Your friends are going out, and you know you shouldn’t go with them, but you join because you don’t want to be left out.
It is so easy to get into situations where the effects of the world inundate us. Should we lock ourselves inside and never again contact anyone? No, of course not! The Bible says in John 15:19 that we are “not of this world.” Our citizenship is in heaven (Philippians 3:20), but there’s still a purpose for us here on earth. While here, we must be careful about our spirits having a worldly experience.
Romans 12 tells us to allow God to transform us, which is critical to being spiritually healthy. We may be around gunk all day, but that doesn’t mean that has to seep into our spirits! When you’re in the mission field at work, at home, or with friends, rely on God to transform you. Don’t copy the earth; copy heaven!
