Legacy of Faith- Hebrews 11নমুনা
“Faith That Overcomes”
“Who through faith subdued kingdoms, worked righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.”—Hebrews 11:33
As we conclude this devotion on a life of faith, I want you to understand that faith is more than a message; it is not a denomination but the way the just shall live. Faith is also how we please God and the victory that overcomes the world. Throughout scripture, men and women of faith saw great victories because they looked to God and made Him their source. As we examine a few scriptures for today’s devotion, we can see that victory marked the lives of people who lived by faith. Whether or not they saw the promise fulfilled, they held onto God and His Word.
Faith is a force, a force that caused the walls of Jericho to fall. Picture hundreds of thousands of people marching around the walls of Jericho for seven days, and at the end, when they followed God’s instructions, they declared in faith, “For the Lord is good, and His mercy endures forever,” and the walls fell flat. There are many stories in the Bible to strengthen our faith. Romans 15:4 tells us that the things written before were written for our learning, that we, through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures, might have hope. Remember, faith is the substance of things hoped for, and stories in the Old Testament give us a vision of who God is and what He can do.
In Hebrews 11:32-33, we read about some of the key figures in these stories, including Gideon, who, in the natural, saw himself as the least in his father’s house and from the smallest tribe. But God spoke to him and declared that he would be a mighty man of valor, defeating the enemy as one man because God would be with him. Understanding faith is not about what I can do in my own ability, but realizing I am doing things with God because He is the source of victory. Verse 33 describes what faith can accomplish, reminding us of what we can do when we stay connected to God. It tells us that faith can subdue kingdoms, work righteousness, obtain promises, stop the mouths of lions, and so much more.
As you look forward in faith to the days ahead, remember it’s not about having faith in our faith but about having faith in God. I want to leave you with a scripture at the core of Heritage of Faith, one that has been instrumental in this ministry since its inception. In 1 John 5:1 and 4-5 it says, “Whoever believes (has faith) that Jesus is the Christ is BORN OF GOD . . . for whatever is BORN OF GOD overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” So, if you believe that Jesus is the Son of God, I want to welcome you to the family of believers who are overcomers.
About this Plan
Faith is more than a term—it’s essential to our Christian life. It’s not a sermon, denomination, or movement. Romans 1:17 and Galatians 3:11 remind us that "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 11:1 also teaches, "Without faith, it is impossible to please Him." As children of God, we must cultivate and strengthen our faith. Over the next 14 days, Pastor Justin Bridges will lead us through Hebrews 11, showing us how to apply faith in our lives and how to live victoriously by faith, just like those heroes of faith who went before us.
