Dually Devoted – a Devotional for Bivocational Pastors and Leaders.নমুনা
How sustainable is Bivocational ministry? Some of us may feel like we can’t continue much longer, while others might think it will never end. Longevity in Bivocational ministry demands significant behind-the-scenes effort, often more from us than anyone else.
Reflecting on the past 13 days of this devotional, hopefully, you’ve realized that sustainability requires shedding what holds us back, focusing on the small details and opportunities, and cultivating persistence and faithfulness.
Longevity isn’t about the grandeur of our work but the faithfulness of our hearts. While being fruitful is important, it doesn’t surpass faithfulness. Faithfulness is relational. Our faithfulness in our relationship with God is the foundation of everything we do and become. Our faithfulness in relationships with others stems from our relationship with God. Our approach to ministry is a relational response to God’s calling on our lives.
Maintaining the right perspective is crucial for lasting as dually devoted pastors or leaders. Without it, cynicism, criticism, and complaining can take over. We won’t last long if that’s what drives us. But if our hearts long to hear Jesus say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” then joy, trust, and rejoicing will be our anthem. Which do you choose?
If you choose the latter, God promises to provide the endurance we need to run the race well. We don’t have to run it alone. As Bivocationals, we can continue to cheer each other on, coach each other in our techniques, and embrace each other as we cross the finish line together. Let us not be islands unto ourselves but come together as dually devoted partners and runners.
