Day 3- The Shadow Where I Hide
Discover: The authors of both Psalms make it clear that it is in the “shadow” of God that we can find peace and protection. These passages beautifully illustrate the safety we find in God. To "dwell in the shadow of the Almighty" means to live under His care and protection, knowing that He is our refuge in times of need. This figurative language paints a picture of how finding ourselves in a posture of worship towards God can remind us of how intimately He cares for us and the things that cause us to fear.
Learn: When we think about shadows, they often provide relief and protection from something overwhelming, like the sun on a hot day. In verse two of “King of My Heart”, The lyric "The Shadow where I hide" evokes this image of God being our place of safety and rest. Worshiping God as the "Shadow where I hide" means recognizing that in Him, we find shelter and peace. Worshipping Him should become a place of refuge for you, in that you can encounter and engage with this same God who offers you peace and protection from the things of this world. Life can sometimes feel overwhelming like there’s no escape from the pressures and expectations placed on us. In these moments, God offers us His shadow—a place to hide and find rest. Worship is more than just a song; it’s an act of releasing your peace and giving it to One who is our help, acknowledging that God is our protector. When we worship Him, we are choosing to rest in His presence, knowing that He will guard us and give us the strength we need.
Apply: Today, whenever you feel stressed or anxious, imagine yourself stepping into God’s shadow. Let His presence be your refuge where you can rest and regain your strength. Consider setting aside a few moments to pray and meditate on His protection over your life, maybe even listen to your favorite encouraging worship song. Make it a habit to seek His shelter in His presence regularly, not just in times of crisis, but as a daily practice of worship.
Worshiping Jesus should be a place of peace and protection.

· In what areas of your life do you need to seek God's protection and rest?
· In what ways can worship be a refuge for us when we feel overwhelmed?
· How can you practice stepping into God’s shadow daily?
