Spiritual Disciplines

DAY 2 OF 25

Day 2- The Mountain Where I Run

Discover: In these verses, David describes God as his rock and stronghold—a place of refuge and stability. Just as a mountain is immovable, God is our rock which we can run to in times of trouble. David reminds us that because of this truth, God is worthy of our praise. Knowing God in this way, as a place of consistency and strength in our lives, we should be led to worship Him. Through this week’s discipline of worship, we will look through some song lyrics from Bethel Music’s “King of My Heart,” which is a song that encapsulates the nature, practice, and spiritual discipline of worship. Each day for the rest of this week, we will explore some lyrics that encompass a reason as to why you should practice the spiritual discipline of worshipping God, where we recognize Him as the King of your heart. Today, you should worship God because He is the “mountain where I run”.

Learn: The spiritual discipline of worship isn’t just about singing songs on Sunday. It’s about recognizing who God is in our lives every day. When we think about the lyric "The Mountain where I run," it reminds us that God is our refuge and strength. We run to Him because He is unchanging, solid, and secure—like a mountain that stands firm against the storm. In our daily lives, we all face challenges—whether it’s stress from school, pressures from friends, or uncertainty about the future. Regularly worshiping God as the "Mountain where I run" means that we must acknowledge His presence and power in every aspect of our lives. It’s about turning to Him first, not as a last resort. When you choose to run to God, you are expressing confidence in Him, and that confidence is a form of worship.

Apply: Today, think about what it means to run to God in your daily life. When you’re feeling overwhelmed or uncertain, instead of trying to handle everything on your own, take a moment to worship and seek refuge in God. You can run to Him because He is a steadfast and unchanging foundation for your life. Make it a habit to turn to Him first. Worship can be as simple as acknowledging that He is your strength and asking for His help in whatever you’re facing. Worship, however, it looks for you, should be a place of refuge and stability upon the mountain you can safely run to.

Worshiping Jesus should be a place of refuge and stability.

· Can you think of a time when you "ran" to something else for refuge instead of God? How did that work out?

· How can you make turning to God your first response when facing difficulties?

· How can worship deepen our trust in God as our stronghold and refuge?

· In what ways can you worship God daily by trusting Him as your refuge?
