Faithful Waitingনমুনা
Live today!
"Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2 NIV)
Habakkuk prays a wise and mature prayer: "I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord!"
I don't know if I could manage to pray with such gratitude after I'd lamented all my suffering to God and He'd answered me with, "I've got a plan. I'll take care of it later." Do you?
God tells Habakkuk what He is going to do, but not when! And that is exactly what we would like to know! But God simply reveals to Him the following:
"The message I give you waits for the time I have appointed. It speaks about what is going to happen. And all of it will come true. It might take a while. But wait for it. You can be sure it will come. It will happen when I want it to." (Habakkuk 2:3 NIRV)
How do you read this verse? There are actually two possibilities.
For most of us, this verse first triggers frustration: "It won't happen right away”... Oh, great!
“Wait patiently”... Super! “It's going to take a while”... Of course!!
But we might as well be positive and pay attention to the gems in the middle of this verse: "for the time I have appointed." It will happen! This means your miracle will happen for sure and the time is already fixed. God confirms that very directly in this verse: "It will happen when I want it to."
And until then, you don't have to live a depressed, frustrated life. No, not at all! Because while you trust Him—while you wait—He wants you to live! Like really live: "The Babylonians are very proud. What they want is not good. But the person who is godly will live by his faithfulness." (Habakkuk 2:4 NIRV)
So if you are honest with yourself, are you currently living faithfully, or are you stressfully waiting for your miracle before you really go on living?
Then I advise you, as it says in the verse, to trust God today in a completely new way, even if you still have to wait. Because your miracle will happen at the appointed time!
God wants you to live TODAY, even if you experience your miracle TOMORROW!
You are a miracle!

About this Plan
This week we want to deal with the Old Testament prophet Habakkuk. Not that much is known about him, but one thing is certain: He was faithful in the waiting times. Are you in a time of waiting? Perhaps you too need some encouragement from Habbakuk!
