7 Devotions to Lead Day by Day and Night by Nightনমুনা
Ready to Lead
One of the Bible’s greatest leaders was Nehemiah. Since his exile from his homeland in Jerusalem, Nehemiah lived in Persia in the trusted role as the cupbearer to the king. He protected the king and ensured that no one would poison the king through his drink. Though this role seems insignificant, it positioned Nehemiah close to the king and allowed him to speak for his people. After years as a servant, Nehemiah demonstrated that he was actually a gifted leader in waiting.
For approximately four months, his emotions stirred over what he had heard about Jerusalem’s broken walls and burned gates. When the king asked him about his sadness, Nehemiah responded by asking the king a question (Nehemiah 2:3). It was as if Nehemiah were saying, “How can I not be sad? I want to do something about it.” His question to the king demonstrates his readiness to lead.
When God is stirring you like this, he is preparing you. Before something happens publicly, usually God readies his leader privately. Is God doing this with you right now? Are you ready to lead?
Declare: I am ready to lead.
Lord, I want to be ready to lead, so stir my heart. Amen.
