Beautiful in God’s Eyes: Who YOU Are in Him

DAY 3 OF 5

You Are Whole

Kiwi watched as her young friends worked dangerous jobs to provide what little they could for their families. She witnessed girls disappear after being sold by their parents for what the family needed to survive.

And although there were things that Kiwi knew could help her escape poverty, such as education, everything came at a cost she could not pay. If her family couldn’t even afford food, how could she attend school?

Throughout Kiwi’s story, we see brokenness. We see young girls being pried away from their childhoods. We see children suffering through hunger. We see families fighting daily for just the basic necessities they need to survive.

In your own life, you’ve probably suffered from brokenness too. The hard and heartbreaking things we suffer and the injustices surrounding us are symptoms of a sinful, fallen world.

In John 16, Jesus gives us this truth: “In this world you will have trouble.” But the verse doesn’t stop there. Jesus continues by saying, “But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33, NIV).

Although we suffer brokenness, Jesus has overcome it, and we’re made whole in him. In fact, Jesus promised us wholeness. In John 10:10 (NIV), Jesus tells us that he has come to give us life to the full!

Because we’re his children, God is working to put the broken pieces of our lives back together. Those things that threaten to break us? He turns them around for our good. Romans 8:28 (NIV) says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

While Kiwi’s childhood was threatened by poverty, through those working as Jesus’ hands and feet, she was made whole physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

“One day, my parents told me I was joining the Compassion project at our church. Later, I was told that I had a sponsor. I got food, and medical care and I got to go to school. At the church, I found hope…my relationship with God came alive at that church.”

Let this be proof that no matter what’s broken in your own life, it can be made whole in Jesus.

  • Struggling with physical illness? He has healing for you (Isaiah 53:5).
  • Dealing with heartbreak? He heals your broken heart and binds up your wounds (Psalm 147:3).
  • Suffering from fear? He is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1-2).
  • Worried about your future? He has plans to prosper you and give you hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Remember this truth: While you may have suffered brokenness in your life, whole is who you truly are in Jesus.
