Immeasurable Love
A song writer once said, " So high, you can't get over it. So deep, you can't get under it. So wide, you can't get around it. Oh! Wonderful love." I believe the song speaks to the immeasurable love of God that illustrates the vast and limitless nature of God's love for us. This immeasurable love of God is impossible to measure and beyond our comprehension. In Ephesians 3:17-19, it says, "So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God."
In this passage, apostle Paul is writing to the Ephesian church, expressing his desire that they comprehend the vastness of Christ's love. He uses the words "wide and long and high and deep" to convey the idea that God's love cannot be fully measured or understood by human knowledge, but that it is all-encompassing. I want to share with you a couple of aspects that describe the immeasurable love of God:
1. Infinite: As Paul described in the above verse, we see that the immeasurable love of God is Infinite. It is deep, wide, has no boundaries and extends to all people.
2. Unconditional: His love is not dependent on merit, actions, or behaviors. It is freely given to us in failures and mistakes.
3. Undeserving: Even though we may fall short, sin, and make mistakes in our journey with Christ, God continues to extend his love to us by his grace and mercy. Grace is the unmerited favor and kindness placed upon us, leading us to a path of forgiveness and salvation
4. Transforming: The immeasurable love of God has a transforming power that changes the hearts and minds of man, guiding them to a life of faith and with Jesus Christ. In 2 Corinthians 5:17, it says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: the old has gone, the new is here!"
In Romans 8:39, it says that nothing can separate us from the unlimited love of God. His immeasurable love is ever-present, never to be away from you.
About this Plan
For the next couple of days we'll dive deep into different types of love. Love that's enduring, unconditional, deep, and immeasurable. The greatest love you and I could ever receive, the love of God.
