Two Gifts From God: Singleness and Marriage

DAY 6 OF 6

Resting in our Current State

Before we finish, let’s remind ourselves of what goodness God has given us and what we are called and created to do.

For single people, take heart in knowing that your singleness is not a curse but a gift from God. It is an opportunity to fully devote yourself to serving the Lord without the responsibilities and distractions of marriage. Embrace your freedom and use it to glorify God with all your heart and might. Your singleness can be a powerful platform for Kingdom work, allowing you to impact others in ways that might be more challenging if you were married.

For married people, recognize that your marriage is also a gift from God. Even if your marriage has difficulties, it serves as a training ground for growth and character development. God works through your marriage to shape you into who He desires you to be. Your union with your spouse can be a beautiful testimony of Christ’s love when your hearts are centered on God.

Regardless of our current state, whether single or married, we must remember that God’s grace is sufficient for whatever struggles we face. When we yield our weaknesses to the Lord, He empowers us. So, trust God’s sufficiency in every circumstance and lean on Him for strength.

As we navigate the complexities of life, we must avoid the sin of discontentment. While it’s natural to desire marriage, children, or other heartfelt longings, our ultimate desire should be glorifying God. If singleness is the path God has chosen for you, seek contentment in knowing that He is glorified through your obedience and service. If you desire marriage, submit that desire to the Lord and prioritize His glory above all else. Trust that He knows the deepest desires of your heart and is working all things for your good.

Let us be a people who aim for our chief desire—to bring glory to God in every situation. Whether we are single or married, our satisfaction and joy must be rooted in Him. When we are most satisfied in God, He is most glorified in us. Our contentment should not be tied to external circumstances but firmly anchored in our infinite wealth in Jesus Christ.

So, as we conclude this series, let’s remember that we are all gifted by God, and our lives are an opportunity to glorify Him in whatever state we find ourselves. Instead of longing for something different, let us embrace the gift of our current state and rejoice in God’s abundant blessings. May our attitudes, mindset, and speech be a testament to contentment and joy, reflecting that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied. Let us live as living testimonies of God’s grace and love, shining brightly as His precious gifts to the world.
