DAY 20 OF 30

MADE FOR THIS MOMENT: MARY MAGDALENE

Called

READY

“Jesus said to her, ‘Mary.’Turning around, she said to him in Aramaic, ‘Rabboni!’-which means ‘Teacher.' ‘Don’t cling to Me,’ Jesus told her,‘ since I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to My brothers and tell them that I am ascending to My Father and your Father, to My God and your God.’ Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples,‘ I have seen the Lord!’ And she told them what He had said to her.” John 20:16-18

SET

Mary Magdalene, a woman from a small town in Galilee, had been possessed by seven demons, a brutal life where she had no control over what she did and said. Jesus freed her from that torment, and she committed to following him wholeheartedly. She traveled with Him and openly supported Him and His teachings. Mary’s life reminds us that nothing we’ve done or has been done to us is so awful that it could keep Jesus from loving us.

Mary Magdalene was one of the key figures who was at the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. When He was crucified, she bravely remained there with Mary, Jesus’ mother, and John, one of His disciples. Days later, she was the first to witness the resurrected Jesus.

What did Mary feel when she heard Jesus call her name as she stood staring into the empty tomb? She didn’t recognize Him when she saw Him, but she knew who He was when He spoke. Her Savior was there, calling her by name. He saw and knew her and told her to announce to His men that she had seen Him. Mary Magdalene becomes the first evangelist. Our God is a God of second chances and more. He completely transformed her life, and through her and the disciples, His Good News would be spread to all the nations.

We serve a God who wants to use us all regardless of our circumstances. He longs to do great things through you. God has given you a voice, telling others of the greatest gift you’ve been given in knowing Him is the best gift you could ever offer. Mary Magdalene couldn’t have imagined that she would be the first to witness the most significant event in the history of the world and that she would be the first to tell others about it.

You have a platform and a voice to spread His Good News. Whether through your play, words, or actions, you have a story to tell. He has placed you on this team at this moment to work through you for His glory. Commit yourself to Him in all you do so that when He calls you by name, you will recognize His voice and share with others how He has changed your life.

GO

  • How are you seeking and pursuing Jesus so you may recognize His voice and use your voice to spread His message to those around you?

WORKOUT

Isaiah 43:1; John 20:11-18

OVERTIME

God, help me to have ears to hear and the courage to obey You. Give me words and the heart to share what You have done in my life without fear. Show me Your path for me.
