God is effusively generous! Did you know that? I find it absolutely breathtaking when I look at God’s creation. With such dedication and attention to detail, he created nature, animals, humans, and the entire universe! He gave his all so that at the end he could say: “Look, everything is very good!”

The first life emerged from God’s generosity. God gave himself away in the creation. He did not stay alone and keep his gifts to himself, but invested all his creativity, all his ingenuity, and his life in one individual creature of this earth. To some extent, you are the product of God’s unpredictable, exuberant generosity. He rejoices in what he created. His readiness to give himself to the creation fulfils him time and again!

Generosity does not only bring forth life, but also awakens new life in us. Do you feel spiritually dried out? Are you going through a dry spell in your life of faith? Do you long for the streams of living water of which Jesus speaks? Then it could be that you have to rediscover the secret of generosity.

Generosity brings us closer to God’s own essence and deeply fills us with new life.

Write down three things where you can recognize God’s generosity in relation to your own life. Thank God for his generosity towards you and, by doing this, refuel your heart.
