Honoring Others: The Fifth, Sixth, and Seventh Commandments
The fifth, sixth, and seventh commandments address the sanctity of relationships. They teach us to honor our parents, protect life, and uphold the covenant of marriage. Jesus expanded it further, teaching that even lustful thoughts break this commandment (Matthew 5:27-28). In a society where purity is often devalued, this commandment reminds us to honor God in our relationships, keeping our thoughts, hearts, and actions aligned with His design for intimacy (Hebrews 13:4).
