Precious Moments That Count For Eternityনমুনা
Responsible in the Kingdom
The Levites had a responsibility towards the house of God and they were committed towards fulfilling it. 1 Chronicles 9 talks about the different tasks given to the Israelites and their role in the house of God.
As Christ’s appointed disciples, we have a role to play in God’s kingdom. No task is beneath us or above us. Christ, being the Son of God, humbled Himself and took on the role of a servant and it was not beneath Him to do so. Peter, being a lowly fisherman, was appointed as an Apostle of God to bring good news to the world. Whatever role we have to play, it is important to God. It isn’t about the nature of the task, but our attitude and responsibility towards it that makes a difference. As Christians, we are called to be committed and responsible. However, we usually take this responsibility lightly when it comes to the church and always have excuses ready. As a result, the work of God suffers because we do not play the part that God has assigned to us. God is a God of order and if each of us commits to what we have been given, the whole church will be strengthened.
Paul writes, “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it” (1 Corinthians 12:26 NASB). We don’t realize that even if one member in the body of Christ forsakes his responsibility in building the house of God, all of us suffer because of it.
Prayer
Father, help us in every God-given task assigned to us and enable us to be accountable and responsible as good stewards. Amen.
