Where are the Fathers?
Job was a man of God and a responsible father. He knew the heart of God. He knew how weak the flesh was and how overwhelming the temptations of this world were, and he did not want his children to be led astray. That’s why, without even enquiring about his children’s conduct or the activities they indulged in, he would rise early in the morning and offer sacrifices according to the number of his children, not taking any chances, to be on the right side of God.
How does it apply to us today? To be a man is a matter of birth, but to be a father is a matter of choice. When we look around our city and see a child begging at the street corner, or a woman with an infant in her arms, begging in the midst of the traffic, it is because a man has not taken his responsibility of being the father. Just like Job, God desires that the man take responsibility, as a father, by covering his family by the words he speaks, by the things he does and - most importantly - by standing in the gap every morning to cover his wife and children in prayer. When this is put in place, the family will be like Job’s family - prosperous in all things. Your children will be the most beautiful in the land and you will live long to see your children’s children to the third and fourth generations.
Prayer
Father in heaven, I come to You with an assurance that You will fill me with Your very own Spirit. Help me to rise early in the morning to honor You and cover my family, just like Job did. Thank You for answering my prayer. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

It is our prayer that it will reveal to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, that there is a Creator and Maker of this universe, the only loving and powerful God who longs for a personal relationship with every human being. We pray that these daily readings will remind us all of the great hope and abundant joy in knowing Jesus Christ, through whom we have eternal life!
