Worship and the Word
It is impossible to worship God acceptably and not come to Him in right relationship to His statutes—the Word of God. It is folly to suppose that we can come to Him in worship if in our spirits there is a tendency to disobey what the Bible says.
True worship is never separate from the Word. We hear the Word of grace that comes to us as coals from the altar on which Christ gave Himself for us, burning away our misunderstandings and inadequate knowledge.
And hearing that Word of forgiveness for our sin and failures makes us want to worship and praise Him even more and to say, “Speak, Lord, Your servant is listening. Command, and I will obey.”
