Stand in Confidence: From Sinking in Insecurity to Rising in Your God-Given Identityনমুনা
Connection—Connected to the Source
Connection is all about who you’re living life with. Your level of connection with the God of heaven will determine your level of spiritual confidence on earth. As you connect with God intimately and connect with others intentionally, you’ll establish the supportive network you need, allowing you to remain confident through the storms of life.
During a certain time in my life, I became spiritually insecure because of the influence of the people I had allowed around me. Slowly, I began to assume they were closer to God than I was. I would always question myself. In the thick of my spiraling, God sent me a true friend, Tiphani.
With great authority, she said that I was going through this pain because I was trusting the voices around me more than I was trusting the voice of God. The first important thing she told me was this: “Your love for people clouds your discernment about them.” With those few words, she helped me to recognize that I was blinded by believing the best about those who’d already shown me who they were.
The second was this: “Amanda, you need to PLEAD to God. Literally, BEG God to break the opinions of people off of you.” Tiphani was right. I had allowed myself to be tossed to and fro by every little opinion that a Bible-touting person had spoken of me. I had begun to question the voice of God. So I didn’t just pray; I pleaded.
Each day my aching soul wrestled with God. I struggled to believe that I was chosen, loved, cherished, and seen by Him. Through it all, God was faithful. With my complete dependency on His chain-breaking power, He shattered the shackles that had constrained me to the idolatry of people’s opinions.
When I glorified God’s Word above every other word spoken by man, the idol of people came crashing down. When the false idol stopped blocking my view, I could finally see God’s truth clearly. God used the wise presence of a strong and godly woman to remind me His voice matters the most.
Now, I want you to hear God’s voice for yourself too. Sharpening your ability to hear God’s voice will give you confidence that can’t be taken away from you, no matter how many other opinions come your way.
Pray: Lord, thank You that I have firsthand access to Your presence and power. Please give me a greater desire to connect with You, and help me to know Your voice above all others.
About this Plan
Culture, church, and life have sold us narratives about who we’re supposed to be as women. We feel driven to people-please, downplay, and perform. Author and ministry leader Amanda Pittman explains how we can rewrite our damaging self-beliefs with the truth about our God-given identity by establishing God-shaped confidence. With new perspectives and focus, we will stand confidently upon the finished work of Jesus and live boldly in our callings.
