What Is Holy Ambition?
Is ambition a frowned-upon word in your Christian circles?
As a young woman, best-selling author and speaker, Jennie Allen had big dreams that scared her. Then she learned it was okay to be ambitious—not for fame or success but for God’s glory, His people, and those who do not yet know Christ.
God has given you the dreams and gifts you have. They’re there to equip you for His call on your life to be a difference-maker while you walk this earth. He’s looking for you!
For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His. (2 Chronicles 16:9 NASB 1995)
Is your heart completely His?
Jesus taught to truly follow Him, you have to be willing to "lose" your life—whatever safe, self-directed way you're living right now. If you're willing to give it to Him, you will discover and experience life to its fullest and accomplish all He has planned for you.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it. (Luke 9:23-24 NASB 1995)
Holy Ambition means living with a large purpose. How do we develop it? Over the next six days, we're going to learn the six conditions God looks for in the lives of people He uses:
● A dislocated heart
● A broken spirit
● A radical faith
● A strategic plan
● A personal commitment
● A courageous soul
Whether you're a man or woman, old or young, rich or poor, married or single, these conditions hold true. They apply to laypeople, pastors, missionaries, students, business people, and retirees.
When the eyes of the Lord are searching the earth, He is primarily looking for individuals who will become catalysts for change, drawing others into lives of Holy Ambition for God. The first thing God notes when He finds such a person is a Dislocated Heart. That’s the best place for us to start too.
