I can make a difference.
Nehemiah heard about something bad. His hometown of Jerusalem was unprotected. The wall that went all the way around the city was destroyed.
Nehemiah had a choice to make when he heard that news. Should he sit back and let it bother him, or should he stand up do something good about it?
Nehemiah chose to make a difference. He prayed to God and asked the king for permission to go rebuild Jerusalem’s wall. Even though the king helped Nehemiah, lots of bad things happened: people lied about him, fought him, and threatened him. But Nehemiah didn’t give up. He kept doing the good thing he knew he needed to do. He finished rebuilding the wall. God helped Nehemiah make a difference in a bad situation.
When something bad bothers you, God can help you make a difference, too, when you ask Him to.
Talk It Over: Share something bad that really bothers you. Pray about it, and talk about good things you can do about it. How do you think those good things can make a difference?
