Proverbs – Sayings Of Solomonনমুনা
Reigning in Life: Part 1
The book of Proverbs begins with the idea that a proverb is something designed to enable us to reign in life. Our original mandate in the Garden of Eden was to relate to the Father with intimacy and to reign on the earth with authority. We lost that thanks to the first Adam. We have had it restored thanks to the last Adam, Jesus Christ.
In this next portion of Proverbs 15, we catch a glimpse of some of the characteristics of those who reign in life, or as the heading above verse 13 puts it, those who live the ascended life.
What is the ascended life? Think for a moment of Jesus. He was raised from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the throne of God in glory. According to Ephesians 2:6, those of us who are in Christ are seated with him. There we reign in life with him.
In Proverbs 15, we are presented with some of the traits of the person who lives an ascended life. They choose to be cheerful, not depressed. They are thankful and content, as long as they have God and love, regardless of their wealth. They are calm and patient, not hot-tempered. They make good, rather than frivolous decisions. They seek out multiple counselors, rather than acting unilaterally. Their advice is heavenly, rather than worldly. They head constantly heavenward, rather than being tugged downward.
Such a person can live in the heights of heaven where revelation knowledge is found. Keeping low before the Lord in humility, they are raised high to the place where they fall down under the heavy weight of the glory of God.
Let your heart rest in the truth that you are ascended with Christ. Let that become the place your heart considers home. As you do, living an ascended life will become natural.
Have you considered what it means that you are seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places? Let Father God open the eyes of your heart to envision what surrounds you. What does it mean to live a heavenly life while still dwelling on earth?
