Day 2- Provision For My Opportunities
- God’s Word
“O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer. Nehemiah 1:11 (NLT)
- Today’s Thought
Do you ever feel like God has placed an enormous desire in your heart to do something significant for Him, or to meet a need for someone else or for someone else to succeed in their hopes and dreams? Did you know one of the names for God is Jehovah Jireh (The God Who Provides)? We repeatedly see in the Word of God where God provided a door of opportunity for those who asked and found their delight in Him.
Nehemiah was a Jew living in exile in Persia. He was in service to King Artaxerxes. He had never been to Jerusalem, yet God put a longing and a huge dream in his heart to go to the city of his ancestors and help them rebuild their wall of protection. He knew this was a God-sized vision, and he knew He needed God to provide the opportunity. His earnest prayer is an example to us of how to approach the throne of God and ask that He provide an open door (I Cor 16:9) of opportunity for our desires according to His will. Since it is to our Father’s glory that we bear much fruit (John 15:8), we should all desire to increase our influence and impact in the world by opening doors of opportunity.
As we continue to pray this prayer of blessing over our family, friends, and our future, let’s pray that God will provide and bless us with doors of opportunity that will honor Him.
- My Prayer
May the LORD bless you and protect you. May the LORD smile on you and be gracious to you. May the LORD show you his favor and give you his peace. Numbers 6:24-26 (NLT)
Today, God, thank you for your desire to bless us and that you are the God Who Provides. I pray that you will provide me, my family, and friends doors of opportunity and favor so that our lives might honor you. I pray for your provision in every area of my life. I pray for divine connections and divine opportunities. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
About this Plan
For 20 years, Michelle's father, Dr. Rod Masteller, used "5 P's" taken from the prayer of Aaron to serve as a daily guide to pray God's blessings over his life, family, and friends. In his honor, we have written this devotional as a framework to help you focus on praying for God's provision, protection, presence, power, and peace.
