DAY 15 OF 20

It's safe to say we all enjoy coming in first place. Whether it's winning a board game, becoming league volleyball champions, or snagging a prize at a competition, coming in first is kind of the best. Did the teacher ever tell your class to line up for recess in elementary school, and you raced to be at the front of the line? Being at the front was like a badge of honor — you beat everyone else!

Here's the thing, though. God often tends to flip what we would consider a victory upside down. In God's world, being first is not always the best. In fact, at times, it is actually the worst. You see, when we try to be first, we often forget about others and leave them behind. In God's upside-down world, we are challenged to put others first, instead of ourselves.

What could it look like to put someone else first today? What challenges do you think you could face in putting yourself last?

About this Plan

Distinct

If someone asked who you are, what would you say? Are you a musician? A basketball player? A friend? A daughter or son? Those things might be true, but have you ever felt like you’re still figuring out who you are, what you’re good at, or why you’re here? In this 20-day devotional series from Grow Curriculum, we'll explore who Jesus is and discover who we’re meant to be.
