Through the Bible: Leviticus

DAY 7 OF 10

Love Your Neighbour as Yourself

Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against a fellow Israelite, but love your neighbour as yourself. I am the LORD.
Leviticus 19:18 (NLT)

In this passage there are various laws that we need to obey. However, the Lord instructed us to “love your neighbor as yourself". In keeping this command, we will fulfill the requirements of all the other commandments. James also quoted this and called it “the royal law”. This is a very high calling  to serve others selflessly. Our Lord Jesus Christ had demonstrated this by dying for us on the cross for the atonement of our sins. What a marvelous, unconditional love!

In Galatians 5:14, the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself."

Prayer:

Lord Jesus, we thank You for the unconditional love which You had shown to us on the cross. We pray that You will impart this love upon us so that we can love others as ourselves. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.

About this Plan

Through the Bible: Leviticus

The last chapter of Exodus ends with an interesting detail – Moses can’t enter the tent of meeting because it is filled with God’s glory. God’s presence is so holy that even Moses can’t come near! Therefore, God must sanctify Moses and His people for holiness, and this is what Leviticus is about. Leviticus means “And He Called”. God calls us to repentance and a lifelong journey of holiness.
