Daily Bible Reading–January 2021 God's Word of Lifeনমুনা
January 13
Introduction
Jesus dines at the home of a Pharisee; and a woman, known to live a sinful life, enters the house and washes Jesus’s feet with her tears, dries them with her hair, and pours perfume on them.
Today's Scripture Reading
Luke 7:36-50
Today’s Key Verse: Luke 7:50
Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
Reflect
According to Jewish law, anyone who touched a sinner would become unclean and would have to live apart from the Jewish community. Simon was a Pharisee who sought to avoid contact with anyone who could make him unclean. How does Simon react when Jesus allows the woman to touch him? Since most people wore open sandals, guests in someone’s home were usually offered water so they could wash their feet. What does Jesus say to Simon? What does he say to the woman? What does this story teach you about Jesus?
Pray
Lord Jesus, I love you and want to serve you. Thank you for loving me and forgiving my sins. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Those who have been marginalized by society
Tomorrow’s Reading
Luke 8:1-21: Jesus teaches about the Kingdom of God.
