Sisterhood and Why it Matters
I believe women are the glue in society. They hold relationships together, they hold families together, and they can hold each other together.
I believe we are called to fight for one another and not against each other.
I believe we are called to love more deeply.
In chapter one of Ruth, we see that Ruth was ‘stuck’ to Naomi. She was not going to allow Naomi to walk that dark path on her own. She was committed to staying with her despite how difficult the journey was going to be and also how uncertain the future was. There was a deep commitment to remain together on the path ahead.
I believe in women uplifting other women. We will never be uplifting if we are putting others down to lift ourselves up. Instead of being kind and encouraging, at times, we look for another’s faults. As a group, this makes us weak. But If we can become woman who encourage one another, we truly will be a force to be reckoned with. You can be a LOYAL SISTER!
Women hurt other women all too often, and that's a fact. I'd like to see us choose not to hurt one another, but actually make a conscious effort to be happy for and want the best for one another. When she is happy, you are happy for her; when she is down, be there to lift her up. It’s only our insecurity that drives this negative part of us.
But Loyal Sisterhood means:
● Standing shoulder-to-shoulder - when we, as an army of women, stand together it reduces the gaps in the wall where the enemy can come in.
● Standing back-to-back - having each other’s backs when the arrows of the enemy fly in.
● Standing face-to-face - looking into the eyes of someone who is hurting and showing them God’s love.
John 15:13 tells us that the greatest love we can show is when we sacrifice our life for our friend.
So far, God has not asked me to literally lay down my life for my friend. However, this passage asks us to LOVE more deeply, to go out of our way more often, and to be inconvenienced on more occasions, thinking of others as more important than ourselves.
Ask Yourself
● How can you love the women in your life more deeply this week?
● Is there someone that needs their shopping done? Is there someone that needs a babysitter this week when you would prefer to be curled up at home on the sofa? Is there someone that needs that encouraging text, or for you to go and pray with them?
About this Plan
We believe that our God does not simply desire for us to have surface level friendships but to experience Loyal Sisterhood. Explore the power of building with woman who are deeply committed to each other, no matter what.
