A PRECIOUS LESSON
I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw. (Proverbs 24:32)
Each of us has experiences that can serve as important lessons or reminders in our lives. The same thing applies to our spiritual life. The story of the Israelites’ journey can serve as an important lesson for us. The Israelite’s journey from Egypt to the Promised Land is a picture of our spiritual journey.
The Israelites passed through the wilderness and the Red Sea. They experienced victories over powerful nations because of the mighty hand of God. They finally entered the Promised Land and lived there comfortably without any troubles. They even lived with abundant produce of the land. What happened next? They forgot that it was God's hand that brought them to the Promised Land.
This is an important lesson for us: comfort can make us become complacent and eventually become one with the world. Without knowing it, we allow the world to slowly take us away from the Lord. The pleasures make us forget the things we did to please the Lord. Our life’s goals or visions that we have received from the Lord become blurred or fall. God brought the Israelites to this new land to make them a blessing to the nations, both spiritually and materially, that the nations would know the Lord.
The same stories happen in the history of revival as well. Several locations have experienced God's visitation which caused revival and transformation. However, as time goes by, the next generation in that place is carried away by the ways of the world.
We must let go of the past, sins, and darkness so that our eyes will remain fixed on the future. However, let us make it an important lesson for us so that we will not fall into the same sinful patterns of the world.
Let's keep moving forward until the finish line to complete and pass down to others the call of faith.
