There's Hope For Today

DAY 201 OF 366

Uncertainty gives rise to our darkest fears. Will climate change create an ecological disaster? Will some new virus exploit our tenuous grip on mortality? Will overpopulation overtax our resources? Will old age find us a dollar short and physically wasted? Will our families stay together? Will our children break our hearts? The questions echo in a nervous void. Hope must have an object, and we’ve little left in our jaded world to trust anymore.

Against the darkness a light shines brightly, and hope springs eternal in the hearts of those who embrace it. This hope comes from God alone, and He offers it to all who believe Him. He sent us a message through a prophet named Jeremiah – a message of hope. Jeremiah wasn’t prattling on with untested platitudes. He was a man who knew deep trouble. His nation was about to experience exile and destruction. He had stared wide-eyed at what others had ignored.

God’s judgment was falling, and Jeremiah became known as the weeping prophet. But beneath the tears and futility, God gave Jeremiah hope in the darkest hours. He still does that, you know. God always looks upon you with a heart full of hope.
