Instead of Fear: What God Gives You When You Let Go of Fearনমুনা
Day 6: Adventure Awaits
Jane got the call she’d been waiting on her whole life.
But when the call ended, one that offered her an opportunity to study at an acclaimed university, a strange feeling came over her: Fear. Suddenly, all she could think of was expectations and fear. What if I’m not as good as they think? She thought. What if this doesn’t work out? What if I fail?
When Jesus, the up-and-coming rabbi from Galilee, presented two working-class brothers—fishermen with no formal Scripture training—the opportunity to become His disciples, it had to be exciting for them. And also terrifying.
He was asking them to drop their nets—their livelihoods and the only skills they had—for a new life they couldn’t even imagine. But Jesus had done wondrous things like no one else. To follow Him was to step into an adventure, a living miracle, with someone who could save them all.
Sometimes God calls you out of a pretty good life into one that is completely uncertain. One that will require complete dependence on Him. But without that risk you’ll miss the adventure, the miracles, and the provision that only comes from God.
Trade your fear for trust in His calling!
Things to Ponder:
- If you could have a dream job, what would it be?
- If you had the opportunity to serve God’s kingdom, what kind of “job” would you do?
- Is God calling you to serve Him in a new way?

About this Plan
Over and over in Scripture, God says “don’t be afraid.” But He’s not being trite, saying “just stop being afraid” and leaving you to figure out how or why. Each time, He offers something empowering. Discover what God wants to give you in exchange for your fear to help you move forward through difficulties, overcome despair and step into His plans with confidence.
