Suddenly Unemployed – Take It to the Lord in Prayerনমুনা
Day 4: Pray for Daily Provision
“Give us this day our daily bread. . . . ”
Here we pray for God’s provision. We thank Him for all He has provided thus far—physically, spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. We remember all that He has given us through the years.
As the apostle Peter put it, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” (2 Peter 1:3).
A key concern during job loss is security—how will I get by, pay my bills, take care of all that I am responsible for? Let our sovereign God know that your hope is in Him, that you trust Him to do His part (in light of His promises) and that you are ready and willing to do your part . . . this time, again, desperately dependent upon Him to take the lead.
Prayer Prompts:
- Make a list of some of the big and small things God has done for you in the past.
- Discover in Scripture what God has promised to do for you (e.g., Ephesians 2:10).
- Ask God to map out your steps today: what you need to do, whom you need to see, how you might take “one step closer” to getting back on your feet again.
About this Plan
Job loss is stressful and scary. You question your security and significance. “How will I pay the bills, get health care, find a new job? Do I still have what it takes? Where is God in all this?” Be encouraged. He still has “good works” for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). Let Jesus guide you through the Lord’s Prayer on your way to getting back on your feet again!
