The 7 Sayings of Jesus on the Crossনমুনা
John 19:30 “It is finished!”
Jesus had endured tremendous suffering, agony, and pain and it was all now about to end.
In His final words Jesus uttered, “It is finished!” and then He bowed His head and died. (John 19:30)
What He communicated in these three profound words was that His suffering was over and the entire work God had sent Him to do was finished, complete, accomplished.
Jesus did not come just to meet some of the physical needs people had or to perform miracles, even though He did these things at various times as a part of His ministry here, but, He came to be and is The Only Way of eternal salvation and only through His sacrifice the debt or wages of sin was paid in full.
His salvatory work on The Cross was and is complete.
No one else sacrificed their life and died for you, only Jesus Christ did and when Jesus, being fully God, says it is finished, it is finished!
There is no Jesus plus something else to be saved and no matter what people try to say or try to convince you of, you can’t work your way to heaven.
If you’ve somehow bought into the Jesus plus something “gospel”, the antidote for this is to turn back to God’s Word and see throughout The 4 Gospels - Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John as well as many other passages, that you’ve unfortunately bought into the lie of a performance based “salvation”, and you need to see the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
What Jesus did on The Cross is finished. No one, including you, can add or subtract from it.
So, cease striving and receive His free gift of salvation completely because it’s all about Jesus and not about you.
May you pause in worship, praise, thanksgiving, an adoration as you remember the seven significant sayings of Jesus and His finished work on The Cross.
