A woman who has truly been changed by God – who has tasted his grace and has been transformed by his love –opens her heart and her hands of service to the world around her. Our reading today describes beautiful, powerful acts of service to those in need: practical provision for basic needs such as food and clothing, as well as companionship to those who are suffering. Some hard questions to ask ourselves today: Are we easily identified as a Christ-follower by how we treat those in need? Do we seek out opportunities to serve the suffering? Are we generous and compassionate towards those who are hurting, or do we judge and condemn? Father, give us your eyes to see the needs of those around us. Give us your heart to spread your love to a broken world. Help us to live in community with the hurting, so that they might see more of You through us. Amen.
