Kairos - God’s Appointed Time to Actনমুনা
When you are waiting for your breakthrough
Today’s portion for meditation is 1 Samuel 13:1-15, where the Bible speaks about King Saul.
It so happened that the Philistines assembled to fight Israel, with three thousand chariots, six thousand charioteers, and soldiers as numerous as the sand on the seashore.
King Saul was supposed to wait for the counsel of Samuel. Seven days, the time set by Samuel had now passed and there was no sign of him. He and his troops were gripped with fear and in trying to seek the Lord’s favour, Saul became impatient and sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, on behalf of Samuel, which according to the law only the priest could offer. In other words, the sacrifice became more important to Saul than God's will. But in God’s eyes, obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22). This act of disobedience caused Saul to lose his kingdom and reign to David.
Those seven days of waiting were clearly to teach Saul obedience, patience and dependence upon God.
What about you? Are you waiting for a breakthrough in your life? Let me encourage you - no matter how messed up and impossible your situation looks, put your trust in God. Don’t let impatience and self-reliance drive you. Especially, when you know what God’s Word and will is. Remember - They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).
