A Moment With God

DAY 24 OF 61

A GOOD WORD

On an average they say a woman uses twenty thousand words a day while a man uses nine thousand. In all of these words, we wonder how many good words are there.

Words of encouragement, words of comfort and hope, words of assurance and affirmation. It is good to ask ourselves how many of us have blest people with good words.

Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad. Anxiety robs us of our joy, robs us of our present, takes us back to the past and blurs the future. When do people actually become anxious? When they focus on the problem or the issue and keep it to themselves without handing it over to the Lord.

Some people hand it over to God but do not take their hands off. They think God needs help in solving the problem.

Anxiety weakens us, separates us from others, we can become irritable, we question the promises of God and doubt the power of God. Anxiety paralyses us.

It is difficult to accept we are anxious. How do we know we are anxious? That which we are troubled about, troubles every activity of ours, even if not related to it.

Depression is nothing but a deep impression that we are nobody and of no value. The writer says a good word makes us glad. How important are our words? We can play an important role with our words. Words of encouragement. Words of Comfort. Words of Strength. Words of Appreciation. We can make people glad by what we say.

Let us have a positive word for everyone we meet. Let us be a blessing. We meet with people with heaviness of heart. People who are disturbed and anxious. People with expectations to receive a happy word of encouragement.

Proverbs 18:21 says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue and those who love it will eat its fruit.” There is power in our tongues. We can kill or revive a person. The best way to overcome scars is not to retaliate but to give a word of comfort to another.

Isaiah 50:4 says “The Lord God has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak. A word in season to him who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as the learned.”

Share a Word. Let the Lord do the rest. Do we have a good word for people that people long to meet us? Let us build people and make them glad. We will then be surrounded by happy people.

Appreciation is built on truth while flattery is built on lies. Let us learn to appreciate one another.

There is someone waiting to hear a good word from us. Let us be a blessing.

When we run out of words, just run back to the Lord for more words.
