15then are the Pharisees go, and have themselves held an counsel, how they should him capture with a word (that he said). 16and they send to him their disciples with Herod's people, so to say: Rebbe, we know, that you (SG) are truthful, and that you (SG) teach in truth the way of Hashem, and shows deference not after anyone; because you (SG) are not partial any people. 17tell then us, what you think: permitted one give the emperor tax, or not? 18Yehoshua has however understood their malice, and has said: why putting to test you (PL) me out, hypocrites? 19show me the coin of tax! and they have him brought a denarius. 20and he said to them: whose is the image and the inscription? 21say they; the emperor's. says he then to them: give then back the Caesar, what is the Caesar's; and to Hashem, what is belonging to Hashem! 22and when they have this heard, were they themselves amazed, have him left, and are went away.
23in that day are come to him Sadducees, who say, that there is no any resurrection of the dead ones, and have him asked, 24so to say: Rebbe, Moses has said: when someone will die, not having any children, shall his brother do levirate marriage his wife, and raise up seeds for his brother. 25and among us are was seven brothers. and the first has married and is died, and because he has not had any seeds, has he leave his wife to his brother. 26likewise also the next and the third, until to the seventh. 27lastly, after all, is the wife died. 28therefore, at resurrection of the dead ones, whose wife of the seven will she be? because all did her after all have. 29Yehoshua however has answering to them said: you (PL) wrong, because you (PL) know neither the scriptures (the Holy), and also not the power of Hashem. 30because in resurrection of the dead ones not one have marriage, not one makes marriage, but one is like angels in heaven. 31and concerning resurrection of the dead ones, have you (PL) then not read, what there is said become to you (PL) from Hashem, so to say: 32I am the G-d of Abraham, and the G-d of Isaac, and the G-d of Jacob? he is not the G-d of the dead ones, but of the living ones. 33and as the crowds of people have this heard, were they astounded over his teaching.
34and when the Pharisees have heard, that he has the Sadducees stopped up the mouth, have they themselves gathered; 35and one of them, a scholar, has him put to the test and asked: 36Rebbe, which commandment is the greatest in the Torah? 37and he has to him said: you (SG) you shall love have the L-rd your G-d from your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole understanding. (Deuteronomy 6, 5.) 38the is the greatest and the first commandment. 39an other, which is like to this one, is: you (SG) should love have your neighbor, as you yourself. (Leviticus 19, 15.) 40on the these two commands hang the whole Torah, and the prophets.
41and while the Pharisees have themselves gathered, has Yehoshua them stood a question, 42so to say: what think you (PL) about the Moshiach? whose son is he? say they to him David's. 43says he to them: how then calls him David through the Spirit (the Holy) L-rd, when he says:
44the L-rd has said to my L-rd:
sit at my right side,
until I will put down your enemies
for a footstool for your feet?
(Psalms 110, 1)
45and when David calls him L-rd, how then is he his son? 46and no one has him not be able to answer any word. and it have themselves now no one also more not dare from that day onwards him something to ask.
