chapter five
1now come you (PL), the rich ones; weep and wail on your (PL) troubles, which come (on you (PL)). 2your wealth is rotten become, and your (PL) clothes are moth-eaten. 3your gold and silver are rusted; and their rust will be for a witness to you (PL), and it will devour your (PL) bodies as fire. you (PL) have (for) you gathered treasures in the last days. 4look, the wages of the laborers, which have gathered the harvest of your (PL) fields, (the wages), which is of you (PL) held back, cry out; and the shouts of the reapers are come in in the ears of the L-rd, (the G-d of) of hosts. 5you (PL) have lived in pleasures on the earth and yourselves put on pleasures; you (PL) have grazed your (PL) hearts as in the day of the slaughter. 6you (PL) have condemned, you (PL) have murdered the righteous; he stands up himself you (PL) not against.
7be patient therefore, brothers, until to the coming of the L-rd. look, the farmer waits on the precious fruit of the earth, and has patience with it, until it receives the early and late rain. 8be also patient; strengthen yourselves the hearts your (PL); because the the L-rd's coming has itself already come near. 9grumble not, brothers, one against the other; so that you (PL) shall not judged be; look stands (already) the judge before the doors. 10take you (PL) as an example, brothers, of suffering severe/bad and of patience, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the L-rd (G-d). 11look, we regard for blessed the (ones), who have bear with with patience; you (PL) have (after all) heard of Job's perseverance, and seen the end from the L-rd, that the L-rd (G-d) is a merciful and gracious (Job 42, 10-12)
12but before/above for all, swear not, brothers my, not by the heaven, not by the earth, not by any another oath; only shall your yes be yes, and your no shall be no; so that you (PL) shall not fall under a judgment. 13suffering someone among you (PL)? shall he prayer do. is someone in good mood/cheer? shall he sing songs and hymns. 14is someone sick among you (PL)? let him send for to himself the elders of the kehile; and shall they prayer do over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the L-rd; 15and the prayer of faith will save the sick (one), and the L-rd will him raise up; and if he has done a sin, will it him forgiven be. 16be self therefore confess your (PL) sin one to the other, and do prayer one for other, so that you (PL) shall healed be. the prayer of a tsaddik has a great power and is effective very much. 17Eliyahu (the prophet) was a man like to us, and did pray a prayer, that it shall not rain; and it did not rain on the earth three years and six months long. 18and he did again prayer done; and the heaven did give rain, and the earth did sprout out its fruit/crop. (Kings 1st 17, 1; 18, 1)
19brothers my, if one among you (PL) will go astray from the truth, and someone will him turn back (home), 20shall you (PL) know be, that who it turns back a sinner from his false way, this one is save his soul from the death and will cover a mass of sin.
