chapter two
1therefore, do off from yourselves every wickedness and every falseness and hypocrisy and envy and every language evil, 2as just that newborn infants, shall you (PL) desire the spiritual, not falsified milk, so that you (PL) shall grow up by the same to salvation, 3if you (PL) have tasted, that the L-rd is good; 4to whom you (PL) come, to the living stone, who by men actually was He pushed aside, with Hashem however chosen, costly/precious, 5and you (PL) yourselves, as living stones, build you (PL) up into a spiritual house, for a holy priesthood, offering to do spiritual sacrifices, which are well accepted by Hashem through Yehoshua the Moshiach. 6therefore it stands in verse:
see, I lay in Zion a foundation stone,
a chosen one, a costly one,
and who it believes in him will not become to shame.
(Yeshayah 28, 16)
7for you (PL) therefore, who believe, is He precious; for the unbelievers however:
the stone, which the master builders have rejected,
the this one is become to the chief from the corner (stone);
(Psalms 118, 22)
8and:
and a stone of stumbling and a rock of stumbling.
(Yeshayah 8, 14)
they stumble, because they believe not in the Word, to which they were also set become. 9you (PL) however are a chosen people, a kingdom of kohenim, a holy nation, a people treasured, so that you (PL) shall tell the excellencies of Him, Who has you (PL) called from the darkness out into His wonderful light into; (Exodus 19, 5-6.) 10(you (PL)), who you (PL) are once not were any people, now however are you (PL) Hashem's people; who once have you (PL) not received any mercy, now however have you (PL) yes received mercy. (Hoshea 2, 25)
11beloved, I implore you (PL) as aliens and exiles, keep yourselves back from the fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul; 12lead a good life among the nations (of the world), so that in that, in which they speak up of you (PL) as of unrighteous, yet, seeing your (PL) deeds good, shall they give glory to Hashem in the Day of Reckoning.
13submit yourselves to every human ordinance on account of the L-rd; both to the king, as to an overlord; 14also to governors, as to Shlichim from him (the King, 2:13) to punish criminals and to the praise of the (ones), who do good (things). 15because in this way is it Hashem's will, that with your doing good shall you (PL) bring to the silence the ignorance of foolish men; 16as free (men) and yet not as you (PL) would have the freedom as a cover for evil, but as Hashem's servants. 17give (to) everyone up honor. have love the brotherhood. have fear before Hashem. give up honor the king.
18you (PL) slaves, be subject to your (PL) masters with every respect; not only to the good and gentle themselves, but also to the bad. 19because the these is a favor with Hashem, when on account of the conscience before Hashem, one endure grief, suffering unjustly. 20because who for a honor is it, if you (PL) sinned self and you gives (to) you (PL) beatings, and you (PL) are patient? but if doing good (things) suffer you (PL) and are patient, (look) that is a favor with Hashem. 21because thereto are you (PL) called become; because also Moshiach did suffer for your sake, and left an example for you (PL), so that you (PL) shall follow his footsteps; 22who has any sin not done, not is found become a falseness in His mouth; 23who, becoming reviled, did not reviled in return; suffering, did not threaten, but Himself given over to the Judge Righteousness; 24who did Himself carried away our sin in the body his on the tree, so that we, dying concerning the sin, shall live to righteousness; by whose wounds you (PL) are healed become. 25because you (PL) were like straying sheep, but now have you (PL) yourselves returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your (PL) souls. (Yeshayah 53, 5-9)
