Confidence in Troubled Times
A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom. # 3:title 2Sm 15:13–17
1 Lord, how my foes increase!

2Many say about me,

my glory, # 3:3 Ps 62:7 and the one who lifts up my head. # 3:3 Ps 110:7
4I cry aloud to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain. # 3:4 Ps 2:6; 43:3; 48:1 Selah
5I lie down and sleep;
I wake again because the Lord sustains me. # 3:5 Lv 26:6; Ps 4:8; Pr 3:24
6I will not be afraid of thousands of people
who have taken their stand against me on every side. # 3:6 Ps 23:4; 27:3; 118:10–13
7Rise up, Lord! # 3:7 Ps 7:6
Save me, my God!
You strike all my enemies on the cheek; # 3:7 Jb 16:10; Mc 5:1
you break the teeth of the wicked. # 3:7 Ps 58:6
