DAY 6: ACTION - PART 2
Our dreams can be intimidating and can often assume the role of Goliath along our path to purpose. Taking action requires overcoming fear and believing in the plan God has for you. For David to unlock the courage inside himself that was needed to fight the giant, he had to believe in something bigger than himself and his natural limitations. He found strength in the supernatural power of his Heavenly Father and the calling for his life beyond seemingly insurmountable circumstances. Our actions are limited based on the mountain we see in the natural and when we lose sight of the larger impact we will have.
On the surface, David's weapon of a stone and a sling was the equivalent of taking a knife to a gunfight. To observers, he was set up for failure and, ultimately, death. We view failure as an ultimate price to pay if our actions prove to be misdirected or deficient in any way. That said, our ultimate victory and achievement of our mission will be based on the accumulation of small wins along the way. My encouragement for you is to compartmentalize the steps within the process of chasing your dreams.
We've all heard the expression, "the best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time." The same is true with accomplishing a goal. Rather than being intimidated by the daunting nature of the finished product, we are best served by identifying checkpoints throughout the journey and documenting the small victories. Our giant may require more than one shot with one stone. Our endeavors may require multiple attempts with many different tactics and approaches. Action items yielding small wins often build momentum and confidence where we might need to pivot and make adjustments. Your victory depends on setting realistic expectations, segmenting the journey into digestible chunks, documenting small accomplishments, and staying the course through adversity.
CHALLENGE STEP:
Identify three small victories along the journey of executing the vision and strategy.
