Have you ever felt a sense of satisfaction in not being as bad as criminals in jail or other notable sinners?

We’ve likely all experienced this at some point or another. The Bible teaches us that if we are not careful, we may become like the Pharisees. When we do this, we focus on the small flaws in someone else’s life, while overlooking our shortcomings. We’re not better than others because of our works, but because of Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit within us. Without Jesus Christ who cleanses our sins and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we would be no different from those we are tempted to look down upon.
