Talk With God

Once we begin to open God’s Word, we start to learn a lot about Him and how He has a better way for us to do life. But, like any relationship, if just one person is sharing their story it’s hard to feel as if you truly know each other. That’s why talking to God through prayer is so important on this new journey of following Him. Reading God’s Word is one way we can hear from Him, but prayer is the way He can hear our hearts.

He knows every detail of our lives, but He still wants us to come to Him and talk to Him about all of it. That’s how relationships are fostered – by sharing our hearts with those we love. Conversation grows relationships. Talking with God doesn’t have to follow a formula. It doesn’t have to come with fancy words or regulations. It doesn’t have to happen in a certain place. It’s just you and God together wherever you are. Sometimes it’s offering a prayer of thanksgiving for how He has worked in your life.

Sometimes it’s offering a prayer of petition, asking Him to intervene in a situation so that He can be glorified. Sometimes it’s a prayer of repentance and asking God to forgive you. Whatever it looks like, we can be confident that God hears every prayer we pray, and we can trust Him with the outcome. How amazing is it that the God of the universe desires to have a relationship with us?!

Reflection

Prayer has no formula other than intentionality. You can pray anytime and anywhere. It can be in the morning when you wake up, in the car on your way to school or work, when you're out for a run, or even on a lunch break. To begin a habit of prayer, take 5 intentional minutes away from the noise of your day to talk to God just like you would talk to a close friend.

Remember...He wants to hear from you and He loves you.
