THRIVE Mom Devotional Series Part 3: A Mom's Guide to Navigating Friendships to Thrive

DAY 2 OF 5

Day 2: Friends With A Purpose: Mom Edition

"Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get into trouble."

- Proverbs 13:20

Hey there, fabulous moms!

Are you ready to dive into the delightful world of mom friendships with a twist of fun and laughter? Buckle up, because we're about to embark on an adventure that will make you appreciate the incredible gift of mom friends.

Now, you might be thinking, why should we be purposeful with our friendships? Can't we be friends with just anyone who catches our eye? Oh, sweet mama, hold on tight to your stroller handles! Let me share a little secret straight from the word of God.

The Bible tells us that the company we keep has a major impact on our lives. It's like when your little ones spill a sippy cup—splash! The effects ripple through everything and create a mess. Likewise, the friends we hang out with can create a ripple effect in our lives. Pretty fascinating, right?

But here's the deal, mama. It's time for a "mommy X-ray." Put on your superhero cape (or maybe your comfy leggings) and take a closer look at those lovely souls in your friendship circle. Can you figure out their values? Do their paths align with God's purpose for your life? Let's remember what it says in 1 Corinthians 15:33: "Do not be deceived: 'Bad company ruins good mom morals.'" (Our Paraphrase)

Wisdom becomes your trusty sidekick on this journey. And who better to guide us than Jesus Himself, the superhero of divine wisdom? He's right here to help us understand the different levels and depths of friendships we can have with the amazing people in our lives. After all, as Proverbs 27:17 reminds us, "Iron sharpens iron, and one mom sharpens another." (Our Paraphrase)

Some friends come skipping into our lives wearing matching yoga pants and fueled by the love of coffee. They're the ones who truly get the chaos and joys of motherhood like nobody else. And then, there are those Heaven-sent friends! The ones we pray for, the ones who become our partners in crime for a lifetime. They're the ones who know exactly when to deliver a care package of chocolate when life gets messy.

Now, whether your mom friendships last a season or a lifetime, they should always have a purpose. They're not just playdates or coffee meet-ups. Oh no! They should accomplish something significant within you and through you. Think of them as those magical extra pockets in your diaper bag—designed to hold something important on this wild mom adventure.

So, gather your favorite mom squad and join us in this study We're about to uncover the bountiful wisdom God has in store for us regarding friendships. Remember, mama, your friendships should always be purposeful. Each mom friend has a unique role to play in your spiritual growth and fulfillment. As Proverbs 12:26 reminds us, "One who is righteous is a guide to his neighbor, but the way of the wicked leads them astray."

May the Lord shower you with discernment, Mom Extraordinaire, helping you recognize those incredible souls He has intentionally placed in your life. May you navigate your mom friendships with wisdom, grace, and a sprinkle of humor, walking hand in hand with His divine purpose. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.

And let's not forget the wise words of Proverbs 27:9: "Coffee and chocolate make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a mom friend comes from her earnest advice." (Our Paraphrase)

Cheers to friendship and all the joy it brings!

Let's Pray:

Father, we ask that You would orchestrate divine connections, where hearts resonate and friendships bloom. Help us to find those who share our values, who will laugh with us, cry with us, and cheer us on when we feel weary. May these friendships be a source of strength, comfort, and joy.

Lord, we know that true friendships are a reflection of Your love and grace. So, we surrender our desires to You, knowing that You have a perfect plan for our lives. Open our eyes to recognize the mom friends You bring our way, and give us the courage to reach out and build meaningful connections. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
