Banner of Love

Is there any greater delight than feeling loved? Be it the love of a parent, friend, spouse, or child, that sensation you get when you know someone delights in you compares to nothing else. Sometimes we get into a rut of knowing God as protector and provider but not as lover. Any love we know from someone in our lives can’t compare to the love God lavishes on us; we only love because he first loved us.

Take a moment to consider the ways God has shown his love for you lately. List them out and be specific. We too easily pass over God’s loving actions toward us as normal events in our lives. Remember the ways God has raised his banner of love over you.

Jesus, forgive me for forgetting to recognize the daily ways you love me. Show me how you delight in me today. Thank you for loving us so we can love each other.
