Loving Well

DAY 3 OF 7

You Are Capable

Matthew 14 shares one of my favorite stories. It’s the story of how Peter distinguished himself among all the disciples. He was beginning to understand a very important basic idea about following Jesus: if Jesus can do it, I can try to do it as well. When Jesus walked on the water, Peter asked to engage in the same miracle. As we are talking about loving well, we, like Peter, must believe we can be like Jesus and love like Him as well.

Believing is so important. Actually, it’s one of the most important gifts you possess as a follower of Christ. Do you remember what Adam and Eve’s doubting God set in motion for us? Lust, sin, and death.

Our believing in Christ (John 3:16) gives us eternal life. A significant part of our walk with Christ is learning deep down He is Who He said He is, and that He is good (Hebrews 11:6).

In order to love, you must believe that you are capable of love. It’s important to believe the Holy Spirit in you can flow through you in any situation, at any time or season, with whoever you encounter, even if it is difficult. Even though you might have been hurt, abandoned, neglected, abused, taken advantage of, lied to, or misunderstood, you are still capable of walking in love toward others and yourself.

The love that’s been given to you is so strong it can push through any season with faithfulness toward God, your spouse, your family, and your community.

Your love is so strong you can serve for decades in your church, mission, or however and wherever He calls you to serve. Your love is so strong, you can discipline yourself to walk with God, read His Word, and worship Him privately and publicly.

The love inside you is actually indestructible. There is nothing stronger in time than love. Christ proved this in His life, death, and resurrection. At your core, you have to believe you can love anyone, anywhere, at any time. Once you believe this, you can start loving more consistently, and create a lifestyle of loving well.

About this Plan

Loving Well

Love is such an important concept for us as believers and it’s imperative that we have an understanding of what love is and how to love, even when it may be difficult. Love is a choice, and through this plan, Dr. Doug Weiss will guide you on how to love like Christ loves the church.
